The Great Depression is almost universally thought of as the darkest time in recent U.S. history from at least a financial standpoint. Like many of you, I know close family members who lived through the depression and their stories of the hardships, but more precisely how they made do regardless of the times, always seem to fascinate me. People were much hardier back then I believe. This period of time is how we imagine life at its hardest; and the realities that so many people faced during that roughly 10 year span seem to loom larger in our collective consciousness to this day. All we need are the right present day events for us all to see how we fare in a similar situation and the worst predictions seem to point to a time where the Great Depression will look like a picnic by comparison.

There are some that say we are already living through another great depression but we don’t know it because of the social safety nets, which over 100 million people rely on daily to get by. Rather than waiting in line for soup and bread, you are given a credit card so you can buy junk food at the store like everyone else. Remove the stigma of public poverty and one could argue the actual harsh effects, and you might struggle less to get out of it. At a minimum, if nobody sees the outward face of poverty, why worry? Not that people on welfare have it good, but the poor in this country live like Kings and Queens compared to the poor in India or China.
Regardless of where you live, it can’t be argued that the prices of food are rising. When the price of groceries increases too far or your ability to pay is decreased, that is when creativity comes into the kitchen and you will need to adjust your menu. During the depression, meat was a luxury that was often only eaten once a week. When I say meat, I am talking about Hot Dogs. Forget having your steaks if we enter another depression. Meals were frequently based on a few simple ingredients like potatoes, flour, onions and vegetables that were grown in the family garden.

Our society faces a few problems, not the least of which is the ability to grow our own food. In the 1930’s we didn’t have frozen dinners, fast food restaurants and microwaves. Most rural families had their own gardens. If we were to suffer an event now, like the great depression that saw 25% of all workers out of a job, there would be a lot of people unable to eat. That is one of the reasons preppers talk about starting to garden now so that you will not be behind the curve when it’s too late.
If it does come to that and you find it is time to tighten your belt and start making do with less, I thought it would be a good idea to look back in time to see some of the depression recipes that people used to make. I know that we stock up on food that we eat now in the hopes that we will have enough to last us, but I doubt anyone here has stocked up 10 years’ worth of food. If another great depression happens, we will be required to be more frugal and these depression recipes allow you to feed your family with much less.
I have included a few recipes below, but there are also some great books like Clara’s Kitchen: Wisdom, Memories, and Recipes from the Great Depression. Clara also had her own YouTube Channel and you can see her prepare her Poor man’s Meal and talk about living through the great depression below.
In addition to Clara’s Poormans’ Meal, here are a few other options.
Great Depression Pork Stew – Serves 4-6
Ingredients
2 -3 large pork chops
4 large white potatoes
2 large yellow onions
6 stalks celery, include leaves
1/2 gallon water
1/4 cup flour
salt and pepper
2 chicken bouillon cubes
Directions
Boil pork until it falls from the bone. Cut into small bite sized pieces (fat as well) and return to pot with some salt and pepper and keep on slow simmer.
Peel and cut potatoes into bite size chunks.
Roughly dice the onion and celery. Add all vegetables and bouillon cubes to the pot and bring to a boil. Simmer low until vegetables are done. Thicken with a mix of flour and cold water. Taste for salt or pepper.
The stew is white with some green so you might want to add a chopped carrot for color.
Serve in deep soup bowls with biscuits on the side. Some may want to add ketchup to their bowl of stew. This is OK – I do it.
You may substitute and inexpensive cut of pork for this recipe.
Combine, in a large pot, all ingredients except milk and flour/water.
Cook until potatoes are fork tender.
Add milk and flour/water, stirring well.
Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
Serve with chopped green onion and shredded cheese as a garnish.
Creamed Tuna on Toast – Serves 4
Creamed Tuna on Toast
Ingredients
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 can drained tuna fish
1 cup frozen peas (or to taste)
salt and pepper
bread (for toasting)
Directions
Thaw frozen peas in a colander.
Melt the margarine in a saucepan.
Add the flour and blend.
Add the milk, stirring constantly to prevent clumping and stir until creamy.
Add the tuna, peas, salt and pepper and warm through.
As the tuna is warming, toast bread.
After toasted, cut in triangles and spoon tuna mixture over the toast.
Cornmeal Griddle Cakes – Serves 10-15
Cornmeal Griddle Cakes
Ingredients
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg, well beaten
2 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons fat, melted
Directions
Mix and sift dry ingredients.
Combine beaten egg and milk.
Add to dry ingredients.
Stir in shortening.
Pour on a hot griddle.
Wacky Cake – 1 Cake
This gained fame during the depression because unlike traditional cake recipes, the wacky cake didn’t need milk or eggs. It is still delicious!
Wacky Cake
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together into an 8×8 inch ungreased cake pan. Make three depressions. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third well. Pour water over all, and stir well with fork.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes, or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Frost with your favorite icing.

Government overreach in Canada is ratcheting up yet again, as nanny state officials there are now creating so-called “Hoarding Action Response Teams” (H.A.R.T.), which threaten to basically sic S.W.A.T. teams on people who choose to stock up on emergency supplies for worst-case scenario situations.
The claim by the city of Vancouver, where the concept of H.A.R.T. appears to have been concocted, is that these police state squads are necessary to address what the government claims is a “public health hazard” posed by people who have too much stuff.
The goal is to have local fire departments team with property inspection departments and mental health “experts” to pursue residents of British Columbia (B.C.) who hoard things “that seem unusable or of limited value to others, such as old newspapers, clothes, and broken or old gadgets,” the city of Vancouver explains.
It’s an entirely subjective approach to dealing with the problem of “clutter” that opens wide the floodgates of government intrusion into people’s personal lives – including people who choose to stock up on emergency supplies that others might perceive as dangerous “hoarding.”
“Since 1999, (the) government has been mobilizing strategies to combat what they perceive as hoarding,” writes Celeste for Shepherd’s Heart about the Canadian government’s backdoor scheme to gain access to people’s homes without due process.
“They have made tremendous strides in their campaign … Over the next months you will notice firefighters being trained to take proactive steps against hoarders. You will see firefighters using the same template that they have for Defensible Space to minimize wildfires, only this strategy will include the inside of your home.”
American Psychiatric Association says hoarders have a “mental disorder” – will “mentally ill” preppers eventually be deprived of their Second Amendment rights?
According to government officials in B.C., people who “hoard” have questionable physical and mental health, and thus need an “intervention” by the state – which is where this whole situation gets disturbingly Orwellian.
The justification for raiding people’s homes uninvited will be that they’re somehow “mentally ill,” and in need of “help” by state workers, presumably armed, who will come into their homes and conduct “inspections.”
If it’s found that such folks are stocking up on things that the government determines to be “dangerous,” whether it’s piles of old newspapers or boxes of canned food, then the state will proceed to seize all of the “dangerous” items and make the homes “safe.”
“Hoarding has a very subjective definition and is in the eyes of the beholder,” writes Celeste, echoing this sentiment.
“For instance, having two dogs or two chickens, in some areas can qualify you to be labeled as a hoarder. Having more ‘essentials’ than the government recommends, can activate the Hoarding Response Team to your home for a mental evaluation.”
While it’s true that some people truly are hoarders who are putting their own lives and the lives of their families in danger, there are many others whom, seeing the writing on the wall, are simply prepping for the worst – and others who are blind to what’s going on might misunderstand their intent, and consequently report them to the authorities.
This precedent could even become a threat to preppers who stock up on firearms and ammunition, as they could eventually be accused of “hoarding” weapons.
“When you do stock up with preparations you do need to learn how to manage those preparations. That is part of the art of wisdom of this Preparedness Skill-Set,” Celeste adds.
“My concern is that there are certain Executive Orders at all levels of government ready to unload your hoarded supplies as an asset of the government. There is no doubt, that our current laws and regulations have made that threat very real to your family.”
With all the talk about the risk for civil war in America — and the new Nancy Pelosi push for impeachment that will drive America into more conflict — it’s crucial to realize how your proximity to left-wing population density hubs will largely determine your fate.
Over the last several months, I’ve been asking many of my best contacts what they think about the risk of civil war and what such a conflict would actually look like. These contacts include former military intelligence, special forces and law enforcement. They all agree that several upcoming events could trigger a rampage by the increasingly hysterical Leftists, including if Trump wins re-election in 2020, or if Ruth Bader Ginsberg passes away, giving Trump the opportunity to nominate another U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
There’s also the increasing risk of systemic financial collapse, which the central banks are desperately trying to stave off through “repo” actions that are just another form of quantitative easing. The writing is on the wall, however: Even the central banks know this is the final blowout chapter in the history of global debt. It’s only a matter of time before the ability to create new money can no longer fund the runaway debt spending of the governments of the world, include the U.S. government.

Practical actions that can help keep you alive
One of my goals in all this is to translate intelligence into practical action that can help keep you safe. When I learn things that might help you survive, or relocate, or defend yourself against what’s coming, I make it a point to share those conclusions publicly. That’s why I routinely talk to so many well-connected individuals who are either former or active military and law enforcement. These people know far more about what’s really going on than you might suspect, and they are almost universally supportive of defending America (and our president) from domestic enemies.
What they’ve recently told me has reshaped some of my own thinking on this subject, and the new analysis they’ve offered seems so important that it just begged for this article to share everything.
Here’s what I learned, in the aggregate, from multiple sources, many of whom have operated inside collapsing, war-torn cities and countries:
There won’t be a nationwide kinetic civil war fought like America’s first Civil War. Instead, outbreaks of kinetic violence will be very limited to the areas in and around high-density population centers dominated by Leftists (i.e. Antifa and similar left-wing lunatics).
This means your proximity to left-wing cities largely determines your risk of being caught up in any kind of kinetic engagement. The closer you are to the “zombies,” the worse off you’ll be when it hits the fan.
At the same time, if you live in rural America, far from left-wing strongholds, your risk of being involved in kinetic engagement is virtually zero, according to my sources. They do not expect any mass exodus from liberal cities, since it is well understood that liberal zombies are incapable of doing anything that requires effort (such as walking a distance, or reading a topo map, etc.).
Evacuating those cities will be largely impossible. Law enforcement isn’t even planning to try to run such evacuations for the largest cities like Los Angeles. The strategy is to keep people in place and attempt to support them with deliveries of food, water and medical supplies, should circumstances require. In effect, the response strategy will be to quarantine cities that are collapsing, and not risk National Guard troops trying to enter those cities once they’ve passed a certain point of lawlessness. (I was specifically told that the first responders already realize that trying to stop crime is just playing a game of “whack-a-mole” once the crime rate passes a certain point.)
Ironically, the closer you live to left-wing stronghold cities, the more likely the government has restricted your ability to own firearms and normal-capacity magazines. Thus, the very people who will need firearms the most are being stripped of their Second Amendment rights in advance of the coming chaos. (Hint: Move to somewhere else.)
When it comes to safety buffer zones from liberal cities, there are three distances that matter. First is the walking distance from your nearest liberal city. In other words, how long would it take the zombies to reach you if they are on foot? 25-50 miles away is generally considered to be sufficiently far away from the majority of walkers, although such distances are considered quite small for military veterans. The second distance to consider is the driving distance, which means how far someone might get on one tank of gas. This is roughly considered to be about 400 miles, although in a collapse scenario, even the zombies won’t have much success driving anywhere since the roads will likely be either jammed up or rigged as ambush points. The distance of 400 miles means there is practically no place along the East Coast that is a safe distance away from a liberal city. You have to head West — into Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, etc. — to get away from the cities. Along the Left Coast, you of course have to head inland, getting yourself situation in Eastern California, Eastern Oregon or Eastern Washington rather than risking proximity to collapsing cities like Los Angeles, Portland or Seattle.
By the way, as a relevant side note, when it comes to cross-country fleeing via vehicles, stupid zombie liberals will drive their cars at night with their headlights on and tail lights functioning. Experienced veterans will pull the fuses for all their lights and drive using night vision, which is very dangerous but not as dangerous as running with your headlights at night, right into an ambush.
If you live far from the liberal “zombie” cities, your biggest issue will be collapsing infrastructure such as grocery deliveries, fuel deliveries, communications infrastructure, medical supplies and possibly regional power grid failures. Thus, the strategy for those who are not in close proximity to liberal cities is to stockpile supplies and prepare to ride out a period of chaos and disruptions. During this chaos, there will of course be local looting and crimes of desperation, but there will not be organized left-wing waves of communist lunatics trying to sweep across the geography.
This means the survival strategies are very different depending on your proximity to left-wing cities. To summarize, if you’re close to a city, you may be swept up in kinetic engagement initiated by the lunatic Leftists. If you’re in rural areas, your most likely challenge will be surviving disruptions of logistics, deliveries and essential services.
The biggest gap in the preparedness efforts of most people today is a lack of communications capabilities. Even many preppers don’t have radio skills to monitor frequencies, use repeaters or coordinate community defense or rescue operations when needed. Most people have no idea what frequencies are used by local police and emergency services, and they don’t even have practical radios to communicate with neighbors or family members who may be on patrol around their own property. Even the simple MURS or GMRS radios can be incredibly useful, but acquiring and learning to use radios that can listen to a far large spectrum of frequencies is strongly recommended.
One website that’s been recommended to me is ForwardObserver.com, which will soon be indexed by Censored.news as well. Forward Observer is written by individuals with impressive real-world skills in intelligence gathering and action responses to incoming intel. The mission statement of this website is, “Deliver high impact intelligence to shape a real-world, ground level understanding of America’s likely tumultuous future.” The site is largely written by U.S. Special Operations and Intelligence personnel, which explains how I came to know about this work (I know the people who know those people, in other words). As you’ll learn on this site, it’s also highly recommended that you acquire detailed topo maps for your local area so that you can navigate streams, roads, railroad tracks, etc., when needed.

The goal of rural communities that don’t have to deal with left-wing zombie waves will be to maintain the rule of law, re-establish barter and trade in a safe environment, and keep the roadways safe and usable so that citizens can engage in trade. From this, communities can survive and even thrive.
As recent attacks in Saudi Arabia revealed, key infrastructure in America are now highly vulnerable to drone attacks. In the United States, this includes power grid substations, oil refineries, communications towers and water delivery facilities. Drones enable an ease of attack that has previously never existed. For example, how hard would it be for domestic terrorists to fly a drone filled with some sort of high potency poison right into the water canals that feed a city like Phoenix or Los Angeles? There are essentially zero defenses against such acts, and similar vulnerabilities exist for power grid substations and power generation stations that feed the power consumption of large cities. Without power, large cities very quickly collapse into chaos.
If you do not yet own some sort of night vision device such as a PVS-14 (or something better), you are already behind the curve and are hopelessly out-geared from an equipment point of view. Such devices allow you to see the IR designation beams or IR illuminators of organized attackers. They also allow you to see and maneuver in low-light or nearly no-light conditions, especially if you have your own IR illumination device.

In another video this same guy went on to explain and demonstrate his own personal Ham Radio setup complete with a really nice antenna that was suspended from trees and hidden from view with additional comments about how he would not get his Ham license because he didn’t need to be on any government lists and if TSHTF, the first place they would go would be the Ham operators and take them offline.
This got me to thinking a while back and I really debated whether or not I should be like this guy and be a conscientious objector to the whole notion of licensing and just be a rebel with my antenna hanging in a tree. After a lot of thought and some research I decided to pull the trigger and get my Ham license and I want to explain why and discuss why you might want to do the same.

Isn’t Ham something yummy and delicious?
As context, let me explain what Ham is to those of you who aren’t familiar with the term. Ham Radio is also known as Amateur Radio and is a network of radio communications that rely on antennas and individual pieces of equipment to communicate using radio waves. Ham Radio has many strengths but chief among them for Preppers is its ability to be counted on in a disaster. Ham radio is perfect for grid down communications.
Ham Radio operators can still communicate if there is no electric power, satellites or cellular service. That is the primary reason they are the go-to method of communication for preppers as well as emergency response teams in virtually every large city. With the right equipment, Ham operators can talk to people in other countries using technology that was around in the early 1900s. If some disaster knocks out the cell phone service, emergency communications can be routed through Amateur Radio and you can keep in touch with others in your family, group, region or state pretty easily.
Ham radio is a valuable Prepper skill.
Ham or Amateur radios fall under the control of the FCC and there is a licensing process associated with being able to communicate on the radio. In order to speak on the air legally, you must first obtain your Technician level license and a call sign from the FCC. Your name and information will be listed in at least one public database and this information is freely accessible to anyone who wants to look.
Reasons Why You shouldn’t get a license
Like my friend above, I had some initial concerns regarding licensing because like any good Prepper, I am concerned with OPSEC. Even if I wasn’t into prepping, I wouldn’t want my name and address posted anywhere that someone could easily access it and part of communicating on Ham Radio is that you are required to give your call sign. Anyone you are talking to, or anyone simply listening in can look up your call sign and see where you are from. After learning all of this I started to weigh my options with Ham radio.
Like I mentioned above, Ham radio is probably the single best – disaster proof communication method the average person can use. As I began prepping my own family, the topic of communications came up several times. How would I communicate with my family in an emergency? How would we get news from others if for some reason there was a media blackout? The ubiquitous walkie-talkies that everyone has are effective at limited ranges, but what about longer distances? Ham Radio addressed both of those concerns nicely.
The only problem was that darned license.
At this point I could do one of two things. I could either get my license and put my name and address out there for everyone to see or I could simply buy the radio equipment and use it illegally. The thought process for some people is that if TSHTF, nobody is going to care if you have a license so the latter option is one I considered just like the YouTube guy above.

It turns out that two things influenced my decision on whether or not to be a law abiding citizen. The first and most obvious was my address out there on the interwebs. To get around that, I simply purchased a PO Box in a nearby town and used that for my FCC information. This is perfectly legal and still protects my address somewhat. Could someone look up my name, and then cross reference me in the phone book? I guess so, but who are we talking about here? If you have a psychopath running around trying to find you, chances are there are much easier ways of getting to your house. If this is in a post-collapse scenario, I have bigger problems.
Now, does that mean I should let my guard down and talk about anything on the radio? Not at all. The airwaves are public and anyone can listen in. For that reason alone, you should take great care in choosing what you talk about or divulge when you are talking on the Ham bands.
The second and more important factor that influenced my decision was the learning curve that is associated with Ham Radio. Getting started is pretty simple and once I had a radio, I was listening in on channels fairly quickly, but there is so much you can do that is outside of dialing through some frequencies. To fully take advantage of Ham Radio, I would need to practice and you can’t do that illegally, well without risk that is. Technically you can get on the radio and start talking without a call sign or you could lie, but just because radio waves are invisible, that doesn’t mean you can’t be found. Hams make a game out of finding antennas and it’s called a fox hunt. If you are talking on the radio and
shouldn’t be, someone can report you, they will find you and the fines from the FCC are steep.

On the Radio – Almost
So with all that said, I went and took the exam for my Technician level license and passed. Now, as soon as the Government opens back up, and the backlog clears I will have a call sign and my name will start appearing in those databases. I am looking forward to finally being able to talk on the radio, but more importantly learning about the different frequencies and antennas I can use to communicate to others should our normal method of communications go down. I think of this as a decent trade-off for being able to communicate legally over the radio and besides, it isn’t like my name isn’t in several databases already. I am in the database for prior military service, the firearm database, IRS database etc. etc. If they want to find me they already know where I am and just because I have a radio now, that won’t be much more motivation to come get me I don’t believe. We’ll see.

On April 5, 1933, with a desperate nation in the throes of the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102, “forbidding the Hoarding of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates within the continental United States.” The effect of the order, in conjunction with the statute under which it was issued, was to criminalize the possession of monetary gold by any individual, partnership, association or corporation, and at a time when Americans were desperate to regain lost wealth.
The order was issued to allow the Federal Reserve to bypass restrictions contained in the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, regarding the amount of gold reserves it had to retain in relation to the amount of Federal Reserve notes (dollars) it was creating.
Fast forward to 1994. Then-President Bill Clinton issued an executive order that combined a number of laws that would take effect in the event martial law was declared. One of the laws including in his order, EO 10998, permits the federal government to seize hoarded food supplies from both public and private holders.

“Some people may feel the federal government does not have the right to confiscate stored food in the event of a national emergency where access to food is limited, they believe the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution — which prohibits unreasonable search and seizure — protects their privacy and should be upheld to protect their food supplies even if other people do not have access to food in a disaster.”
Only, that’s not going to be the case, as any declaration of martial law would essentially nullify any constitutional protections and civil rights that inhibit the government from self-preservation and preservation of the civil society.
In fact, the government’s hand – not yours – was strengthened even further in March 2012, when President Barack Obama signed the National Defense Resources Preparedness executive order, which “grants the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense and other agencies complete control of all U.S. resources, including the ability to seize, confiscate or re-delegate resources, materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense as delegated by the following agencies.
Included in the order is all farming equipment; all forms of energy and energy production; “food resources,” which means all food commodities; all water resources; and so forth.
What’s more, under the order all Americans are automatically registered with the government according to their skill level, so – like the military draft – they can be forced to perform jobs and services the government deems vital to the nation’s functioning [as part of a National Defense Executive Reserve].
And by the way, it won’t just be your food and water the government will take; if you’ve stored fuels, weapons, medicines and other supplies, Uncle Sam will help himself to those items, too, leaving you nothing but dependent (and vulnerable).
We bring you this information not to make you angry, but to make you think – about who you tell of your preparedness plans and what items you’re stockpiling; about where you may consider moving your stash to avoid detection; about finding additional ways to feed yourself in times of trouble. A food-and-water stash won’t do you any good if it’s confiscated “for the greater betterment of the country,” so you ought to take the time now to consider ways to protect what you’ve built or what you’re building.

Tell me, if someone mentions “The United States of America”, what do you picture in your mind? The American flag? The White House? Mount Rushmore? Or perhaps you see a map of the Unites States, like this.
What you’re looking at is the sovereign territory that is both claimed and incorporated by the United States Federal Government. But in reality, that is not the United States. Would you like to know what it really looks like?
That’s more like it. What you’re looking at is a map of every military installation in the lower 48 (that we know of) according to Google Maps. There are a few more in Alaska and Hawaii, and hundreds more across the globe. Now imagine a map of every police station, capital building, post office, courthouse, and every other federal and state agency. That, is the real United States.
To some of you that may sound obvious, but hear me out. Every government on Earth has a territory that they claim as their own. They have certain boundaries that legally exist as their jurisdiction. But then there are places that are disputed like Eastern Ukraine or the Senkaku Islands, and there are places that no employee of any state has ever set foot in like the depths of the Amazon Rainforest. They may legally belong to a government, but practically speaking is another story.
During a SHTF situation, pain could become an annoyance for some, but unbearable for others.

In truth, the government is not a series of lines on a map. It is the sum total of people who work for that government, and the areas where those people can successfully wield influence. I personally experienced this reality several weeks ago when I went hiking in a national forest. I was 15 miles away from the nearest cell reception, nobody knew I was there (long story) and there were small trees sprouting in the middle of the gravel road that led into the park. It was clear that not only had nobody been to my particular location in several months, but there had been no members of the park service there either in a very long time.
If you look at a map it would say that this place belongs to the United States Government, but the situation on the ground said otherwise. If someone attacked me in the park, my safety lies solely in my own hands, and what I do after the fact (if I survive) is totally up to me.
I suppose I could call the police, but if I didn’t nobody would know, and if I lost that particular fight, it’s unlikely anyone would be punished. There is no legal recourse for either party at that particular time and place. That piece of land, for all practical purposes, belongs to no one.
The reason I’m bringing any of this up is to illustrate a point about our government’s ability to survive a major disaster. I’m not very confident that they could. I’m sure they have an extensive series of bunkers that will shield the political and financial elite of our nation during any disaster, but when they emerge months or years later, will they have the infrastructure and personnel to enforce the boundaries they claim as their own?
I’m sure it would depend on the disaster, but in this case I’m talking about something catastrophic. Think EMP attack or nuclear war. Heck, even a major financial correction might get the dominoes tumbling into a wider disaster.
Most preppers would assume that they will quickly lose control of large swaths of the rural countryside. I would have to agree. If you look at most wars that have occurred over the past 100 years, one fact stands out. The cities have always been bastions of government authority, while the countryside is quickly overrun by rebels or foreign invaders. This can definitely be said of our own military.
When you compare our wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan, you’ll see the same situation. Our forces clung to cities and far-flung outposts, while occasionally sending patrols into a countryside that they would never successfully control. Cities are just easier to manage, plain and simple. But it’s hard imagine them maintaining control over a vast countryside that is filled with people who don’t like the government, who have lived without their help for many years, and are now dealing with an influx of desperate people who have fled the cities.
However, they do have those urban areas, and once they make contact with what’s left of the local authorities in small towns across America, they might be able to start exerting their previous control over those regions. The only problem is, they may not be able to keep the lid on our cities. You have to ask yourself, if they can’t control an area that is traditionally easy pickings for a government, will they be able to raise a flag anywhere else?
As of now, our cities are already bursting at the seams. In cities like Chicago, the number of police in their gang enforcement division is actually outnumbered by gang members with a 500-1 ratio. In other major cities, you might hear stories about certain neighborhoods that police just flat-out refuse to enter without extensive backup (again, is it really the United States if their employees can’t show their faces in that neighborhood?).
Their ability to solve murders has been declining for years, and the public’s trust with the police is in the toilet. Simply put, our government’s authority has been slipping at the local level for a long time, and this doesn’t even account for the mobs of panic-stricken citizens that might emerge after a disaster. It also doesn’t account for situations like Hurricane Katrina, where numerous police officers abandoned their posts in the wake of the storm.
If you ask me, it looks like our government would crumble at every level if faced with a widespread disaster, and they may not be able to recover from it after the fact. The police will be outmatched, and the military will either be stranded in overseas outposts, or tied up with the police in our urban areas.
Really, it boils down to this. If there is an event that is so catastrophic, that it shatters our police and military into isolated units with little communication to the outside world, will they be able to survive? And for those cops and soldiers who do survive, will they be willing to pledge allegiance to our current politicians and bankers, when they emerge from their fortified bunkers?
At the end of the day, our government is nothing more than the people who work for it and their ability to enforce the law in any given area. It’s hard to say if they would prevail in their current form during any widespread disaster.

Once upon a time, heading on down to the grocery store to fill the pantry whenever you needed to was not an option. Pioneers who traveled west in pursuit of religious freedom and a better life in the early days of U.S. settlement aimed to settle in areas where chances to buy supplies were few and far between.
This meant that they had to be self-sufficient, which required bringing along and preparing food that would last a long time, tending animals and hunting as needed, and eating what the land provided them.

While this self-imposed self-sufficiency is truly a measure of how passionate and hardworking the pioneers were, it’s also a glimpse into a future without the modern-day amenities we all enjoy in 21st-century America. If ever a situation arises that leads to the collapse of society as we know it, those pioneer foods may be more like our bread and butter (pun totally intended). Here are some foods that we’ll all have to become familiar with if doomsday happens.
Cornmeal
A favorite of Native Americans, cornmeal was often used in place of today’s more traditional wheat flour because it could be easily ground from whole corn while on the move. Bread, cakes, and pancake-like products were often made from cornmeal. It’s got the added bonus of a little sweetness that could be hard to come by in a SHTF situation.
Dried or Cured Meats
Without refrigeration, meat from large animals like cattle, pigs, deer, and so on will have to be handled differently than it is today. Smoking, salting, and drying were all techniques employed in the pioneer days to keep meat from spoiling, and they’d be a handy way to keep our families fed for the long haul if we lose access to refrigeration. While cured and dried meats are more a novelty today, you can bet they’d quickly become a staple in more trying times.
Wild Game, Especially Small Game
You don’t find a lot of people eating squirrel and wild rabbit these days. However, a squirrel or rabbit that was happened upon and harvested in pioneer times surely wouldn’t go to waste. Fresh meat was few and far between, with the bulk of protein coming from dried or cured meats, and taking large game wasn’t very practical if you were on the move as you’d likely wind up wasting much of the meat. Small game was perfect for feeding you for a day, though. That’ll be very important, especially as people are likely to take on more nomadic lifestyles post-doomsday.
This also includes fish and native shellfish. In many places, fish may be even easier to get your hands than rabbits and squirrels. Learning about the local varieties could make it much easier to add some protein to your dinner.
Animal Fats
Lard and other fats rendered from animals are definitely not the go-to these days, but they were far more readily available in pioneer society – and they were also a lot easier to process than the vegetable-based oils you’ll find in the average cabinet today. Because fat is a crucial part of our diets, animal fats are likely to make a comeback after doomsday.
Dried Fruits and Veggies
We know that drying produce is a great way to preserve it. People enjoy dried fruits and veggies even in modern times. However, if our society breaks down and leaves us with zero access to out-of-season produce and more modern preservation methods like canning and freezing, dehydrating fruits and veggies is likely to become common practice. You can even preserve produce this way using only the power of the sun.
Beans tend to be fairly easy to grow, and dried beans can last a very long time. Pioneers packed dried beans to provide protein and fiber along the trail, and they’ll likely be popular for their high protein count and filling nature if ever the SHTF. You also don’t need much to prepare dried beans; a pan, water, heat, and a little patience is all it takes. Bonus: When you settle in somewhere, you can plant those babies and get a whole new crop ready for the next year.
Squash, Tubers, Onions, Garlic, and Apples
What do all of the above have in common? Aside from being fairly commonplace now, all of these produce items can be stored for fairly long periods in cool, dark places. As long as a little care is taken in storage, these will last through most of a winter. You commonly see references to these items in all sorts of literature written in earlier days, and root cellars were commonplace up until a few decades ago. If fresh produce was out of the question, wouldn’t some delicious fried squash or potatoes be an absolute treat?
Maple Syrup and Honey
While we as a society are pretty dependent on modern sugar, it was much harder to find in the days of the pioneers. In fact processed sugar was an expensive luxury for most people. Instead, they used other sweeteners like honey and maple syrup to help sweeten their dishes. Those items will likely become much more common in a SHTF situation because they’re easier to process than white sugar. With a little knowledge, and very minimal equipment that could be improvised easily, the common man can get syrup from tapping trees. A little bravery would certainly be necessary to collect honey, but it’s not impossible. Here are 23 survival uses for honey that you didn’t know about.
Foraged Foods
Obviously the foods you’d be able to forage vary from region to region, and the same was true for the pioneers, too. They’d forage local berries, greenery, wild fruits, mushrooms, and herbs to supplement their diets and add variety. If the SHTF it’ll pay dividends to be aware of the edible plants found in your region and have an idea of where to find them. These wild foods may also be propagated for home gardens if seeds and plants are unavailable for planting the more common gardens we see today. Here are 21 wild edibles you can find in urban areas.

Hacktivist group Anonymous has released a chilling new video – urging people around the world to prepare for World War 3 – warning that the US is maneuvering its military for battle.
“All the signs of a looming war on the Korean peninsula are surfacing,” the group claimed in a six-minute clip, posted on YouTube over the weekend.
“Unlike previous world wars, although there will be ground troops the battle is likely to be fierce, brutal and quick. It will also be globally devastating on environmental and economical levels,” Anonymous warn.

And for more than half a century, the US has enabled it. In spite of threatening nuclear war on the world, most countries have never acted. However, the Trump administration appears to want to change that.
As the Free Thought Project has faithfully reported, tensions between the US and North Korea continue to rise — almost intentionally — as the US rattles the saber at the crazy Kim Jong-Un.
Just last week, North Korea, feeling pressure of encroaching American and allied vessels, threatened to make a ghost ship of a U.S. nuclear submarine.
“The moment the USS Michigan tries to budge even a little, it will be doomed to face the miserable fate of becoming an underwater ghost without being able to come to the surface,” railed propagandic North Korean outlet, Uriminzokkiri, quoted by the Independent.
“Watching as each country moves strategic pieces into place,” Anonymous notes, in their signature distorted robotic voice behind the Guy Fawkes mask. “But unlike past world wars, although there will be ground troops, the battle is likely to be fierce, brutal and quick. It will also be globally devastating, both on environmental and economical levels.”
The very real threat of nuclear war would most assuredly be devastating on all levels.
Instead of attempting to achieve peace, the US is responding in kind with intercontinental ballistic missile tests of their own.
To show Kim Jong Un that launching test missiles won’t be tolerated, the United States, last week, launched an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from a US Air Force base in California — just seven days after a previous launch.
“This is a real war with real global consequences,” Anonymous explains. “With three superpowers drawn into the mix, other nations will be coerced into choosing sides, so what do the chess pieces look like so far?”
“The citizen will be the last to know, so it is important to understand what the other nations are doing,” the group stated.
“The pragmatic Chinese, it seems, are starting to lose their patience.”
The Chinese do appear to be making moves for a potential conflict.
Last month, China’s Foreign Minister warned that an armed conflict with North Korea may break out “at any moment,” urging Washington and Pyongyang to tone down their hawkish rhetoric and realize the price to pay for both sides if a new Korean War were to start.
Shortly after the warning, China issued a notice to its citizens telling them to leave North Korea at once.
Anonymous also points out that war is likely imminent due to President Donald Trump meeting with the murderous president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte, who compares himself to Hitler and publicly calls for the extrajudicial murder of his own citizens for using drugs, was invited to the White House by Trump.
“When President Trump starts reaching out to those like President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines to assure they are on the same page, one must start to wonder,” Anonymous says in the video. “However, even Duterte has advised the US to back away from Kim Jong Un.”
“Prepare for what comes next,” warns Anonymous.

Any self sufficient homestead can benefit from chickens, geese, and other fowl… especially when the SHTF. Have eggs, meat and fertilizer on demand.
In a SHTF situation, resourcefulness and self-sustainability are two important aspects to strive to achieve.
One area that checks off these two targets is raising domesticated poultry.
Although a seemingly trivial part of the bigger picture, poultry ranks very high in sustainability and should be a goal for any self sufficient homestead.
They can provide for you in multiple ways. Outside of laying eggs for food, the bird can also be slaughtered for meat and their waste makes excellent fertilizer after composting.
Additionally, birds do not require any exceptional amount of resources to successfully grow and maintain. Having the ability to eat bugs, plants and garden scraps gives you the ability to grow healthy poultry in an efficient manner.
Also, who wouldn’t want a couple of feathered friends when the SHTF?
So, with that said, out of the many different varieties available to the modern homesteader we’ll break down the best birds for survival.
When thinking poultry, typically the first thing that comes to mind is chickens and for good reason. They make an excellent choice for a multitude of reasons and are one of the most popular type of bird to grow. Whether you consider yourself a farmer or not, many people raise chickens as a hobby or for an easy source of eggs with relative ease.
Best Breeds Depending on the breed you raise, many are hardy and can handle wide ranges of weather, temperature, and living conditions without too much consequence.
Buff Orpington chickens are the perfect combination of good laying hens and great meat. As one of the most popular breed of chicken, accessing a starter flock is quite easy.
Plymouth Rock is another popular breed. Having the qualities of efficient layers, the breed is extremely sufficient. While, not widely known as good meat producers,
Plymouth Rock chickens still aren’t a bad choice when it comes to meat.
Cornish Cross is a go-to meat bird. With the ability to gain over 10 lbs. in 6-8 weeks, they’ll be ready for the kitchen table in no time. Although they won’t produce much eggs, you’ll still get broad breasts and large thigh pieces which make them one of the best meat bird breed available.
Proper Care When it comes to raising poultry, chickens are some of the easiest, low-stress options out there. While it may be in the best interest of the bird to always have water available, food doesn’t have to be offered constantly.
You’ll find most chicken breeds are good scavengers, and if put in an outdoor, free-range setting they’ll find a large part of their diet in the dirt and grass available.
However, offering a couple cups of feed a day for each chicken is most likely required. If raising hens for the purpose of eggs, you’ll find by having available nesting boxes will boost egg production.
Make an easily accessible, private and comfortable laying area for your hens by putting down straw or hay and check daily to gather your eggs.
Geese
Although not as popular as your everyday chicken, geese make a great option for survival situations in both eggs and meat.
Additionally, while geese are typically bigger than chickens, they don’t require a whole lot of care and even the novice poultry farmers can still successfully raise a flock.
Best Breeds Arguably, the best breed is the Golden Goose, which has the ability to lay golden eggs – but unless you are Jack in Jack And The Beanstalk you probably won’t find many of them around.
Instead, you may have better luck with Chinese Goose. A descendent from the Wild Swan Goose, they are one of the bigger breeds available. As one of the best layers available, having the ability of reaching upwards of 100 eggs annually, it’s hard to go wrong with this choice.
If egg production isn’t your main priority, Pilgrim Geese is your go-to choice for meat production. As a medium-large breed, they won’t get too big for you to easily slaughter and butcher, but you’ll still easily get enough meat for multiple meals.
Proper Care Similar to the chicken, geese are pretty easygoing when it comes to animal husbandry. The biggest difference being their size, they will require more daily food than a typical chicken will.
As most poultry do, geese prefer eating grass, grain and also corn. Another factor that goes into producing a happy goose is available water. Many geese prefer a lake or a pond for swimming and foraging in.
Though a body of water isn’t necessary for their wellbeing, it could be a benefiting factor to consider when considering raising geese.
Turkeys
For the more adventurous poultry farmers, turkeys offer a more advanced option when raising birds. While similar to chickens in their preferred habitat and food requirements, turkeys are much bigger and require more space.
Despite requiring more food and space, the amount and quality of meat available on turkeys outweighs the negatives.
Best Breeds At the grocery store, Broad-Breasted Whites are probably what you are buying when purchasing turkey.
As one of the most popular meat-bird breeds in America, Broad-Breasted Whites offer great meat production in a short amount of time. However, despite great meat production, they are often prone to walking problems and diseases.
Bourbon Red turkeys offer some of the best characteristics when it comes to quality turkeys. Outside of being known for their beautiful red plumage, Bourbon Red’s also offer exceptional taste. As one of the better tasting heritage turkey breeds, they are able to gain upwards of 20 lbs.
If meat isn’t your primary goal with raising turkeys, you may want to consider Beltsville Small White. As a smaller bird, they aren’t as tasty and don’t provide as much meat as some other breeds. However, they are known for being exceptional layers.
Proper Care The care youto give to a chicken is similar to turkeys. You can feed them worms, seeds, nuts, grain and insects if you want them to eat natural organic food. However, you can also buy commercial turkey food as well.
Also, they tend to drown in a deep water dish and even in a good rain.
Final Thoughts
People often don’t consider raising poultry in a doomsday situation. However, the benefits provided when raising either chickens, geese, or turkeys can be what you need to survive.
As great scavengers, most birds will not require a pure diet of grain. Instead, they’ll be able to eat up any pesky bugs around your shelter. Additionally, birds provide two different sources of food with eggs and meat.
While you may not think a flock of chickens or turkeys may be one of your best companions when SHTF, they might just be.

If you take into consideration all the signs, there is no mistaking that our generation is living in the last days, nearing the second coming of Jesus. Problem is, Satan can see how close we are to the end of the world, which is why he brings certain ‘end times groups’ into the spotlight, proclaiming false dates for the second coming, which when those dates come and go, causes many people to turn away completely from the truth. The truth being that WE ARE living in the end times. The Bible is very clear on that. We just can’t set specific dates for Jesus’ return. But we CAN know when the end is near … And we are certainly now seeing “ALL these things”.
Before you read on, please note this important point. In Matthew 24, Jesus speaks of wars, earthquakes and such things, but says these are just the “beginning of sorrows” and “the end is not yet”. Now that word “sorrows” in the original language meant “birth pangs”, the pain in childbirth. Now birth pangs speak of frequency and intensity. And as a woman gets nearer the birth, the “pangs” become more frequent and intense. This is true also for the signs of the end times. These signs began not long after Jesus’ day, and as Jesus quoted, the end would not yet be, because this was just the beginningof sorrows. But throughout history we have seen the “pangs” (signs) become more frequent and intense, culminating in the day we live in now where the pangs are so frequent and intense that we must be right at the time of “delivery”, when Jesus is to return. So don’t let anyone fool you into believing that the signs today are just the beginning of sorrows and the end is not yet.
Hebrews 1:1-2 …’God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.’
“The beginning of sorrows” started nearly 2000 years ago with the persecution of the early church and the destruction of Jerusalem. We are living right at the end of time.
Historical Evidence – Daniel 2
Daniel 2:31-45 ..’Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image .. This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet … Thou art this head of gold … And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron … And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided … Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter.’
More than being a “sign” of the times, this is an historical FACT of where we stand in earth’s history. The vision that God gave King Nebuchadnezzar as shown in the Bible verses above, and subsequently the interpretation to the prophet Daniel, consisted of an image of a man which depicted all the “ages” and ruling kingdoms from the time of Babylon until the second coming of Christ Jesus (the destroying Rock, which is the eternal kingdom of God).
By the way, if you are not convinced that the Bible is any sort of authority, then study the prophecy of Daniel 2. It perfectly foretold the future kingdoms of this world up until the end of time. And history confirms it as ACCURATE.
As you can see from the picture, the different parts of the man represented the different “ages” and ruling kingdoms of this world. And what is the last “age”? It’s the feet of the image. And when did the last age start? It started in the year 476 AD. when Rome fell and split into the ten kingdoms of Europe. Which means this world has been in the “last age” for over 1500 YEARS! So add that to the amazing signs of the last days that you will see throughout this site, and you are left with no doubt that we are living right at the end of the toes on the image and right at the end of time, soon to see the second coming of Christ Jesus.

There has never been a time like this before where fear and uncertainty of the future ruled the day. Yes, there has been fear and uncertainty about the future during times like the world wars. But never have we heard such words like “end of humanity” being proclaimed by the world. Satan knows that Jesus Christ is coming back soon to put an end to this wicked world. Satan knows that the judgments and plagues of God are soon to fall, so he is deceiving the world with this climate change agenda, which was conceived by the Club of Rome. But this just shows how close we are to the return of Christ.

Now the very next verse in Daniel 12:1 says … ‘And at that time shall Michael stand up’, indicating the close of probation and final time of trouble before Jesus returns. At what time? At the time that the ‘he’ in Daniel 11:45 plants the tabernacles of his palace in between the seas in the glorious holy mountain, which is Jerusalem in Israel. The ‘he’ in this Bible verse is the king of the north. And if you read our page on the king of the north, and study this for yourself, you will see that the king of the north is Turkey and Islam. And what does Daniel 11:45 say Turkey and Islam are going to do? Plant the tabernacles of his palace in Jerusalem. In other words, Turkey and Islam are going to ‘move into’ Jerusalem to take control. Do we see anything like that happening today?
So as you can see, this is very much on the table today! And with Donald Trump [being led by his Evangelical advisors] moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, this is going to anger Turkey and the Muslims even more. So keep watch for this sign, as it will be an indication that probation is about to end, the time of trouble will begin and Jesus will be about to return!
End Time Sign – INCREASE OF KNOWLEDGE
Daniel 12:4 …’even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.’
I Just love this sign, because it is clearly pointing to our day today, and it cannot be refuted by anyone. Throughout history we have had a slow and little increase in knowledge. But take a look at the EXPLOSION of knowledge over the past 150 years! Up until recently in history, the fastest form of transport was a horse. Now man can travel at hundreds of miles per hour, and cross the globe in a day! Technology has developed at a rapid pace, which has led to great improvements in computer power, scientific discoveries and the medical profession. Just look at how much we have learned about the human body with things like DNA and Cellular Structures etc. And how about “running to and fro”? This is pointing specifically to our day with planes, trains, automobiles and the busyness of modern day life. We are definately running to and fro and have knowledge like no time before us.

This Bible sign has a dual application. “running to and fro and knowledge increase” also applies to knowledge of Biblical truths (see Amos 8:12). During the “dark ages”, for over 1000 years, knowledge of Biblical truths were surpressed by the Roman Catholic Church. But since the protestant reformation and breakaway from Rome, God’s people have been running to and fro in His Word FREELY and knowledge about great Bible truths have been revealed. God now has an end time remnant church with the FULL gospel truth to take to the world before the end comes, which was needed to fulfill the sign about taking the true gospel message to the whole world. End Time Sign – ABILITY TO ENFORCE THE MARK
Revelation 13:17 …’And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.’
Now this is a sign that most people miss! Have a think about it … What needs to happen in order for the “beast system” to stop people from buying and selling if they refuse the mark? We need to have a worldwide financial system whereby everything bought and sold is through electronic means, not cash.
Has there been any time in history where this could happen? No. Are WE living in a day where this could happen? Most certainly, yes! And the powers of this world are now trying to make cash obsolete, and are actively pushing pure electronic forms of payment, like “PayPal” and “Google Wallet” for instance. Take a look at the news and you will see this being reported in different countries of the world.
Above is just a few examples of the major push throughout the world for a cashless society. We have the techonology to do this now, which in times past wasn’t possible. And look at the financial turmoil around the world today. This will help in bringing in a “unified” currency to help make it possible to enforce the mark of the beast. Technology isn’t the mark, but technology is needed for proper enforcement of it. This is a SURE sign of the end times!
End Time Sign – MAN OF SIN REVEALED
2 Thessalonians 2:3 …’Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.’
Paul here is saying that “THAT DAY”, the second coming of Christ, will not come until the falling away happens and that man of sin is revealed. Now many professed Christians today believe that the ‘falling away’ is something that will happen in the last days. But this is a wrong view, because the falling away began not long after the New Testament church and was completely fulfilled when the Roman Catholic Church took control and merged Christianity with Paganism, and punished anyone who did not bow to her so called ‘authority’ and false teachings. And that man of sin who was “revealed” to the world during the Protestant reformation is none other than the pope(s) of the Roman Catholic Church.
So, the falling away has happened and the man of sin HAS been revealed. Therefore the second coming of Christ can happen and this shows we are living in the end times.
End Time Sign – VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL IMMORALITY
Matthew 24:37 …’But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.’
Luke 17:28-30 …’Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.’
What was it like in Noah’s day and Lot’s day? We need to go to two other Bible verses to see what it was like. Genesis 6:13 tells us that in Noah’s day the “earth was filled with violence.” And in Jude 1:7 it says that in Lot’s day, Sodom and Gomorrha had given itself over to “fornication and strange flesh”. So violence prevailed in Noah’s day and sexual immorality (including homosexuality) prevailed in Lot’s day. And this would be a sign of the end times before Christ Jesus returns.
So our question is, does violence and sexual immorality (including homosexuality) prevail in the world today? Very much so, yes! Not only does violence and fornication rage across the whole world, homosexuality has become a “norm”. Since 2001, 29 countries have legalized homosexual marriage(source). And there are more countries being added to this list all the time.

Today, the world is FULL of violence and sexual immorality. You only need turn the tv on and you will see violence, fornication and homosexuality everywhere. The cities of the world today are especially bad and are no longer safe places to be.
What are we told in Jude 1:7? We are told that what God did to Sodom was set forth as an example to us today. And what did God do to the people of Sodom? He DESTROYED them with fire because of their wickedness, which included homosexuality!
End Time Sign – RISE IN SPIRITUALISM
1 Timothy 4:1 …’Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.’
How about a rise in spiritualism and the occult in the world? Have we seen this? Well, just look at the television and movies today. “Twilight”, “Harry Potter”, “Lord of the Rings”, and a whole host of other television series and movies containing the occult and spiritualism. It has invaded our lives like no other time before us. And what is the cause of this? It is the false teaching of the immortality of the ‘soul’.
Spiritualism is also the cause of these ‘near death experiences‘ which Satan is deceiving more and more people with.
Many people don’t realize that spiritualism has also invaded the majority of churches around the world, due to this false teaching of the immortality of the soul. Yet the Bible clearly teaches that “the dead know NOTHING” (Ecclesiastes 9:5), and that when we die we return to the dust of the ground from where we came (Genesis 3:19). But the churches have embraced this false teaching of the immortal soul, which is another sign of the times we live in.
“A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches.” (The Great Controversy, p.603-604)

End Time Sign – MASS ANIMAL DEATHS
Hosea 4:3 …’Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.’
This one has become a fairly recent phenomenon. During the last few years we have seen fish, birds and other animals die in huge numbers. Since 2010, millions of fish have been turning up dead in lakes, rivers and the sea, with this deadly red tide partly to blame. Also, Birds have been dropping out of the sky in huge numbers. And we are seeing other unusual animal deaths all around the world. Including Bees and Bats dying in their millions.

The book of Hosea not only applied to the nation of Israel. It also applies to our day and contains prophecies concerning the state of the world we live in today. So is this text from Hosea fulfilled in our day? Is it a sign of the end times? Yes!
End Time Sign – NATURAL DISASTERS
Luke 21:25-26 …’and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.’
So what about this Biblical sign? Is this being fulfilled in our day more than any other day before us? Most definately. Just look at all the natural disasters we are getting now every year. (CLICK ON THE IMAGE FOR A CHART SHOWING A TWOFOLD INCREASE OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS) Are the “seas and waves roaring”? Yes. Tens and even hundreds of thousands of people are being wiped out from Tsunamis and floods, and men’s hearts are certainly fearing what is happening to this world. In America in 2010, a record was set for the number of Federal Disaster Declarations given over a year. That number was 81. In 2011, that number was broken again, with 99 Disaster Declarations given, costing over 32 Billion Dollars. And 2012 produced another year of record breaking disasters. Dr. Robert Hartwig states … “The number of U.S. disaster declarations has been trending sharply upward, particularly over the past 15 years.” (Source) … We are really seeing things happening in this world now with regards to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy today.

May 2019 – “US like a ‘war zone’ after 500 tornadoes in 30 days! – Breaking 40 year record”. (Source)
The scoffers love to bash this one, but from the evidence available, it is clear that earthquakes are not only increasing in frequency, but also appearing in more and more “diverse places”, which the Bible predicted.
Remember, these signs are to intensify during the last days, and that is exactly what is happening with earthquakes.

God is giving us plenty of warning through these events, and we will be without excuse if that day of Christ’s return comes upon us like a thief in the night and catches us unaware. We need to heed the signs and get ready!

End Time Sign – UNSEALED PROPHECY
Daniel 12:4 …’But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end.’
This sign carries on from the “increase in knowledge” sign above. But I wanted to separate it to show you that this sign alone reveals we are living in the last days. God tells Daniel to seal the book. In other words, to seal the prophecies contained within it. And that at the “time of the end”, the prophecies would be unsealed and we would know what they mean.

So this alone confirms that we are living in the end times. But taking all the other signs together will show us how close we are to the second coming of Christ Jesus, the Son of the living God, and the end of the world.

End Time Sign – FALSE CHRISTS and PROPHETS
Matthew 24:4-5,11 …’many shall come in My Name, saying, I am Christ … and many false prophets shall arise and deceive many.’
We’ve certainly had our fair share of false Christ’s appearing around the world. Also, today we have many false religions proclaiming many ways to eternal life, like Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Folk Religions, Wicca, and many other ‘new age’ movements. With false prophets like the Pope, Muhammad, Krishna, Buddha, etc., leading these religions.
We also have many false prophets and leaders in “Christian” churches, like the the prosperity gospel preachers and people like Oprah Winfrey leading these new age movements. And millions of people have been sucked in and deceived by these ‘false prophets’. There are also many who appear to be ‘sheep leading the flock’ but in fact are ‘inwardly ravening wolves’ leading the people to destruction. People like Rick Warren who preach just enough truth to lull the unlearned mind into following them into apostasy! Yes, this sign has certainly been fulfilled.
Please prayerfully seek the truth yourself, by studying the Word of God in the Bible.
End Time Sign – WORLD PUSHING FOR PEACE
1 Thessalonians 5:3 …’For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.’
Is this sign being fulfilled in our day? Yes. There is an ecumenical movement today which we were told about in end times prophecy that is uniting the world in an effort to bring peace. Churches and faiths and political leaders are uniting like never before in an effort to bring peace to this world. But this ecumenical movement is not of God, because we as God’s people are not to unite with the world or any false religion (Amos 3:3, 2 Corinthians 6:17, Revelation 18:4). When they do declare “peace and safety” then destruction will come upon them (1 Thessalonians 5:3).
End Time Sign – WAR
Matthew 24:6-7 …’And ye shall hear of wars … For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.’
Many people say that this isn’t a sign of the end times, because there have been wars since the beginning. Yes there have been wars since the beginning, but when you look at the frequency and intensity of wars, then it’s plain to see that this is a sign of the times we are living in. During the 20th century alone, more people have been killed as a result of war than all previous centuries combined. This has resulted in HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people being killed in wars like World War I, World War II, Russian Civil War, Congo War, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq, etc. Today, there are conflicts and wars raging all around the world (Source). And in 2011, armed conflicts greatly increased according to this report.
So is war a sign for today? Of course is it. But remember, we are not to take any of these signs ON THEIR OWN. Jesus said … “when ye shall see allthese things, know that it is near”. (Matthew 24:33). Taking one sign like this on it’s own will not prove we are living in the last days. All signs need to be fulfilled.
End Time Sign – FAMINE
Matthew 24:7 …’and there shall be famine.’
Just look at the famine that has struck the world over the past 30 years. Thousands die everyday of starvation and according to this news article global starvation is spreading and increasing causing 1 Billion people to go hungry around the world. Add to that the failed crops throughout the world because of extreme weather, and bees dying off in massive numbers, and we have a worldwide shortage of food on it’s way.
Not only that, we have the likes of Monsanto who are poisoning the crops that are left!
The sad thing about this sign, is that the amount of food that is wasted in the developed world could feed the hungry! So think about those in need next time you are about to fill up your shopping trolley with food that will be wasted. The Bible teaches us that we need to be helping the poor and needy, by giving them of our bread and clothing. Rather than throwing away what we don’t want or need.
End Time Sign – CHRISTIANS BEING KILLED
Matthew 24:9-10 …’Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.’
Christians were being killed for their faith in the first century, as well as during the dark ages when the Roman Catholic Church ruled the world and killed tens of millions of God’s people. This is being repeated today in places like the Middle East, China, North Korea, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Egypt, where many Christians are being killed for their faith in Christ Jesus everyday. And once the mark of the beast is enforced soon, then this persecution will spread to the Western World.
End Time Sign – INCREASE IN SIN
Matthew 24:12 …’And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.’
Idolatry, Adultery, Violence, Lust, Greed, Disrespect, Homosexuality, Theft, Lying, Aggression, Selfishness. Is this Biblical sign fulfilled in our day? Absolutely! Just go back 50 years and you would not see half the sin and wickedness that we see in people today. Look at what is portrayed on our TV screens and in the movies and video games! Violence, lust and all manner of evil. This is one of the major end of time signs. Our world today is aching under the burden of sin and I’m sure God will not allow it to continue for much longer.
And do you know the worst thing about “sin” today? It is made into “ENTERTAINMENT”! Through movies, television programs, radio, magazines, comics, you name it! The majority of people in this world today, including professed Christians are happily entertained by the very thing that put the Son of God on the cross! What an abomination!
And please note, I am not just talking about the sins of non Christians. A sure sign that we are living in the end times is the fact that the Christian churches are full of unconverted, sin loving people! Many of them thinking they don’t need to keep the ten commandments, and can continue living in sin, as long as they “believe” in Jesus and go to church once a week. Yes, iniquity has abounded!
End Time Sign – CHRISTIANS TURN AWAY FROM TRUTH
2 Timothy 4:3-4 …’For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.’
This sign of the times has certainly been fulfilled in our generation. A great majority of professing Christians these days do not study the Bible much. Instead they just rely on their pastor’s word as the truth. Let me give you an example. Back during the Protestant reformation, where many people died standing up for the truth of God’s Word. God revealed a great truth to the world about who the antichrist was. All of the reformers knew the truth about the Roman Catholic Church being the Bible antichrist. But as time has gone on and false teachers have crept into the churches, the majority of Protestants now reject this great truth that God opened up to the early Protestant leaders, and they now EMBRACE that antichrist church and have become a part of Babylon!
The above end time sign from Timothy also says that they would be turned unto fables. Let me give you a few fables that the majority of Christians have been turned to. 1. The rapture. 2. Looking to Israel for fulfillment of end times prophecy. 3. Mark of the beast being a microchip. 4. The Battle of Armageddon being a physical battle. And there are many more.

Great and precious truths were opened to the people of the Protestant reformation, but the reformation failed because the people did not continue seeking the truth. Although God does have a remnant church with the full gospel truth, we now live in a day where the majority have turned away from the truth and been turned to fables. This sign of the end times has certainly been fulfilled in our generation.
End Time Sign – GOD DESTROY THOSE WHO DESTROY EARTH
Revelation 11:18 …’And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.’
Are the nations angry today? Yes, we have uprisings, conflicts and wars ALL OVER the earth. And what about man destroying the earth? Well, all throughout history, the most dangerous weapon that man had was a bow and arrow. Man could not do much damage to the earth. But now just look at what man can do and IS doing to the earth through industry, destructive weapons of war, chemicals, oil exploration, depletion of the forests and so on. Just look at the massive oil spills that have happened during the past 30 years around the world. The rivers and seas are becoming completely polluted, and man is certainly destroying the earth like no other time in history, and God’s wrath is about to fall upon them!
We have been living in the time of judgment since 1844 and once the judgment has ended, THEN Christ Jesus will return to “reward” the saints and “destroy those who destroy the earth”.
End Time Sign – GOSPEL PREACHED TO WORLD
Matthew 24:14 …’And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.’
Notice Jesus said “THIS” gospel? There are many “gospels” being preached out there, but it is the TRUE GOSPEL that is to be preached to the world before the end can come. So is this being fulfilled today as one of the end time signs? Yes, because God’s people are preaching the true gospel throughout the world like never before, through the internet, tv and satellite, radio, in the pulpit, and through print. We have never had the resources available before to reach the world the way we can now. This ministry alone receives thousands of visits everyday from people from all over the world seeking the truth. So yes, this Bible sign is BEING fulfilled now.
Take a look at this interesting quote from the 1980’s … “Before the final end, the world is to hear the message of the Lord’s coming. Had no more rapid means of conveyance and communication been found than existed a century ago, it would have been impossible to communicate such a message to one generation. But such a work must be done for the last generation … Then the last generation everywhere must hear the message, and this calls for rapid transit, and lightning couriers to bear the tidings to various parts of the earth.” (Bible Readings for the Home, 1988 Ed.)
And what do we have now for “rapid transit” of the gospel message around the world? The internet and satellite! We are living in a time like no other and the gospel message is soon to reach the final corners of the earth, and THEN the final stages of this earth’s history will take place.
